Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The whole book has now, been; carefully revised, and friendly criticisms duly considered. The portions relating to instrumentation and therapeutics have been, for the most part, rewritten; in the former all recent improve ments are fully described, while in the latter a chapter dealing with the circulatory system has been added, and, at the risk of tediousness, the methods of procedure are plainly indicated.
