After a series of romantic misadventures and the chance discovery of artificial flavors, Mexican journalist Adalberto P rez becomes firmly convinced that nothing is true. He embarks on a frenzied quest to reveal the world's lies, but the scope of his task is infinite, extending to the news, food, sports, politics, the law, even the weather forecast. Adalberto soon finds himself questioning the very meaning of his own life.

At least, that's the solution Adalberto discovers when he meets Alicia Covarrubias, a woman from Spain who has never told a lie.
